"Grove Lake" is the story of an artist, Mandy Donovan, who moved to a small Indiana town just as she was becoming famous in New York many years ago...

Now, Mandy has decided to hold her first art show in more than 30 years, and a young reporter from Chicago has been sent to cover her unveiling. The reporter does not care for Mandy's small-town life, but she slowly begins to understand how the artist finds beauty in even the most unlikely places.

Ball State University's telecommunications program provides an immersive learning experience for its production and acting students every summer. Starting in May, a group of approximately 25 students start the long and difficult process of producing a full-length high definition feature film. This year, the producer, senior Jeff Laub, worked with professor Rich Swingely to finalize the script Swingley had written and hire actors from the Muncie community. The group filmed all summer before completion in mid-August.

Starting this fall semester, students in several telecommunications classes will begin editing and recording the audio for the movie. Grove Lake's premiere is expected to be in December.
